I'm just new to Cumulus, and was wondering if there is something simple I am missing that will add the 'windgustdir' tag to the WOW submission?
I turned on the debug log and can see that it is submitting the following:
7312.6093 : http://wow.metoffice.gov.uk/automaticre ... s%20v1.9.4
I see that windgustmph is in there, but not windgustdir.. it seems the Metservice website here in New Zealand pulls the 'windgustdir' from the UK's met office WOW in order to show up the wind direction for your weather station, without it, it doesn't show any wind information at all
Is there a setting I have missed which will enable this?

Re: Submit wind gust direction to WOW ?
Cumulus doesn't currently store the individual wind direction readings along with the speeds that it uses to determine the 10 minute peak gust figure. So it can't supply the direction at the time the gust was recorded. I'll look at adding this to a future version of Cumulus MX.
This is perhaps an odd thing to do. The direction at the time of the recent high gust isn't necessarily representative of the current wind direction. The average direction would be much better, but WOW don't have that as a parameter, so Cumulus sends the average bearing for the 'winddir' parameter, rightly or wrongly.it seems the Metservice website here in New Zealand pulls the 'windgustdir' from the UK's met office WOW in order to show up the wind direction for your weather station, without it, it doesn't show any wind information at all

Thanks for that
And I agree, it is an odd way for them to pull the data
