Windows 10 Build 14342 - Invalid Floating Point Operation
Hi, Cumulus has been working fine for years, but now crashes on startup after applying Windows 10 Build 14342 - Invalid floating point operation. I'm guessing a Windows 10 bug but can you tell anything from the attached bug report please? I downgrade Windows to the previous version and all is fine again.

It's crashing in a third party component which draws the gauges on the main screen. It could be related to your graphics card driver, you could try looking for a later one, the manufacturer may have an updated one for Windows 10.

I may have misunderstood what you were upgrading from, I didn't realise this was a preview build of Windows 10. So it could be a Windows 10 bug rather than an outdated graphics driver, if you were already running Windows 10. Or possibly an incompatibility with the third-party component and some change Microsoft have done. The component is quite old now.

Thank you Steve for the swift reply. Yes, I just upgraded Windows 10 to the latest preview release. It looks like Microsoft have made quite a few changes in this version. I'm using VirtualBox on my MacBook Pro (El Capitan) by the way. I can investigate further now I know it's a graphic driver issue.

Yes, I can see now that it crashes the moment it starts to use the gauges.

Steve, can you suggest any cumulus.ini changes to stop the application using the gauges as a temporary workaround?

The only thing you can change is the wind gauge 'animation factor' in the display settings, or turn off the wind gauge animation altogether. I think it's unlikely that will have any effect as it hasn't got as far as updating the values on the gauge.
The corresponding settings in cumulus.ini are WindGaugeAnimationFactor and WindGaugeAnimated.

That's right Steve. It didn't make any difference. Hopefully they'll fix it before the next general Windows 10 release.

Hi Steve, I've just got CumulusMX working on my Mac so hopefully I won't need Cumulus1 any more. A bit more testing then it's time for a donation I think.
