To day I saw that the station was not updated in several hours.
I tried to restart cumulus MX - but with no luck.:

pi@raspberrypi:~/CumulusMX $ sudo mono CumulusMX.exe

Cumulus MX v.3.0.0 build 3038
Today.ini = data/today.ini
Last update=2016-05-19T23:15:00
Unable to connect to station
Cumulus running at: http://*:8998/

A restart of the PI and then a start of the CumulusMX and all was working again.

just a thought, if you upload the Wunderground, you can sent the account to email you when WU has not received any data in 2 hours.

not sure if you have two issues, but looks like Cumulusmx was unable to upload data to your website either for quiet sometime

CumulusMX continued sending data to my webserver after the crash, but as You see - it is the same data every 5 minutes it sends.

So I don't think wundergrund wil be of any help.

Yes, it's just the data reading thread which crashes, the other threads continue quite happily in ignorance. I'll look at trying to handle this error when it occurs. Mail notifications are some way off, I'm afraid.
