Lost Data

I doubt whether anyone can help me but it is worth a try. I recently updated my version of Cumulus and now I seem to have lost all my previous data. I know... I should have backed up but I didn't so I have nobody else to blame. My question is, is all my information from the last few years irretrievably lost or is there some way it can be recovered? I have looked in FAQs but either I am looking for the wrong thing or I am too dim to find it. If anybody can either help me or put me out of my misery, I would be most grateful. I now see that I have lost sensor contact! I think I will go and lie down in a darkened room.

Updating Cumulus doesn't cause data to be lost. It may be that Cumulus can no longer find it, for some reason. Did you perhaps not install the new version to the same place as the old version? The installer will normally know where the old version is and offer that location by default. Where on your PC do you have Cumulus installed? Have you looked in the data folder in that location to see if the data files are in there?

If you did this recently, then if you zip up the diags folder and attach it to a reply in this thread, I may be able to help further.

Steve, thanks for replying. When I read the Read Me txt, i thought the suggestion was to save in a new folder rather than in program files, which is what I did. It may be that I misunderstood; ihave been using computers since the days of punched cards and yet there are still areas that are black magic to me! Anyway, I found two diad folders in the two locations and I have attached them. If you can rescue anything, that would be great. Cheers.

You were previously installed here:

C:\Program Files\Cumulus\cumulus.exe

but now you are installed here:

C:\Cumulus\cumulus.exe

You can stop Cumulus and copy the data files over from the old location to the new one.
