Hi

My build 858 seems to have thrown a wobbler this am and recorded 1458.6mm of rain on startup.

So what exactly do I need to do to correct to records and re-set the total amounts?

In the simplest terms please. :D

(Running it on an XP laptop)

Could you upload your Oct09log.txt, so I can see what happened to the rain counter? And the diags file for this morning's start up, please. It'll be cumulus.009 if you haven't started up again today.

Good, that's working, then: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/index.php?ti ... ng_dashes.

Your rain total apparently went down from 1770 to 317.4 in the history data...

11/10/09,00:50,11.6,92,10.3,5.4,6.9,143,0.0,0.0,1015.9,1770.0,17.1,61,3.1,10.8,11.6
11/10/09,00:55,11.5,93,10.4,4.3,6.0,128,0.0,0.0,1016.0,1770.0,17.1,61,3.1,11.0,11.5
11/10/09,00:56,17.5,64,10.4,13.0,13.0,292,0.0,0.0,1031.8,317.4,18.1,60,13.0,16.8,17.5
11/10/09,01:06,17.7,63,10.4,15.9,15.9,291,1.8,0.3,1031.8,317.7,18.1,60,15.9,16.8,17.7

and then back up to 1776.3 in the live data...

12/10/09,07:53,11.6,82,8.6,5.4,5.4,1,0.0,0.0,1016.9,317.7,18.1,57,5.4,10.8,11.6
12/10/09,08:03,11.6,82,8.6,3.1,3.1,291,0.0,0.0,1016.7,317.7,18.1,57,3.1,11.6,11.6
12/10/09,08:10,5.4,90,3.9,2.1,3.8,48,0.0,1458.6,1013.5,1776.3,15.5,60,3.8,5.4,5.4
12/10/09,08:15,5.3,90,3.8,2.3,3.8,35,0.0,1458.6,1013.6,1776.3,15.5,60,3.8,5.3,5.3

But I think that what really happened was that the station gave the wrong 'current data location' so Cumulus read the wrong part of the logger data, and ended up with some old data... It's suspicious that the address it gave was 0100, which is the first location - it's as if the memory pointer had been reset. What's the memory indicator on the console showing?

2009-10-12 08:06:14 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 04 00 7F 00 01 00 00 00 01

The best way to attempt to recover is to use the backup that Cumulus would have created this morning, and try it again, to see if was just a temporary glitch, rather than the memory location being corrupt. Stop Cumulus, and copy the contents of the backup folder with the timestamp of this morning into the data folder, and start Cumulus up again. If the station behaves this time, then Cumulus should read the correct logger data.

Hi

Have rolled back 2 two days and all seems ok.

My weather station is showing a clear memory, which is strange as it has been running for some time and should be full.

thanks for you help :D

Just to keep you up to date; the reason for the problem was flat batteries. It was drawing a supply from the USB port, but when I switched the laptop off, the problem occurred.
