FTP to local network ip

I have CumulusMX running on a Pi, happily uploading to my website hosted by VirginMedia. However, VirginMedia are switching off their webhosting next month so I need an alternative. They offered 12 months free hosting with Godaddy, but the offered product does not accept FTP. Much arguing and I now have 3 months free FTP hosting. So, second Pi and set up my own host.

This second machine (Raspberry Pi 3) now has Apache2 webhost, and Proftpd for ftping in. It works, and is hosting to the internet my web station files as FTP'd in with Filezilla using a local network ip. All good so far.

Now the problem. I cannot get Cumulus to use the local network ip for the internet setting. I cannot use ftplog.txt to diagnose the problem as nothing gets written. As soon as I switch back to the Godaddy site settings all is good, and record get written to ftplog.txt.

Any clues, anyone?

My Godaddy site is at www.wychall-weather.uk, and my Pi hosted site is at 82.17.226.89

No reason why this shouldn't work. Have you tried connecting the ftp client from the command line on CumulusMX rPi to your internal web server rPi?

Thanks for the suggestion, Mark. Quite a steep learning curve this.

I have installed FTP onto the Cumulus Rpi, and managed to connect to the server Rpi. Now just need to work out how to pass username and password.

I'm presently using VCN from my tablet so I think I will wait until tomorrow to use a proper keyboard.

Thanks again for your help.
