Davis Vantage any ideas?

i have Davis Vantage Vue whats the best hight what happen i go higher at 4m above ground im in country town so what most important part for VUE

Because it's an integrated unit there's no ideal height for measuring temperature, rainfall and wind. You have to decide what is most important to YOU and compromise on the other two values.

If wind is the most important locate it at 10 meters. Winds will be accurate, temperatures less so and rainfall will be seriously compromised.

If temperature is the most important locate it at 1-1.5 meters. Rainfall will still be compromised but far less so and readings will be acceptable. Wind is severely compromised and more or less useless.

If rainfall is the most important locate the unit as close to the ground as possible. Less that 0.5 meters. Rainfall will be accurate, temps not too bad and wind still useless.

Overall, I'd suggest 1.5-2 meters. Two out of three is what most people settle for with a Vue.

2.8m rainfall i had 160.4mm this year so far compared Warwick Weather station like Airport like its about 6km out the town and they had 126.8mm this year so far what you think how much rainfall at 1m above ground would be?

You cannot compare rainfall to a station that far away from you or even one a few streets away. Too many variables, actual rainfall rate may (probably will be) different, height of rain gauge, surrounding terrain, accuracy / calibration of rain gauge.............shall I go on?

Same applies to all other sensors.

You can always buy a separate Davis anemometer and mount that at 10 meters and then locate your Vue at 1.5 meters. That will be as close as it's possible to get with Davis equipment. That is my arrangement for my VP2.

sorry i need someone help me with this i have mild form Autism and severe Deaf i have understanding problems would u help me with this stuff if u do i would be happy but i dont think it wont work with davis vantage vue and where pro 2 anemometer cable go to?

Sorry to hear about your condition.

For now I wouldn't worry about adding a separate anemometer. That can be bought later on if you find your wind speeds are not acceptable.

Mount the Vue on a pole 1.5 meters above ground. That will give you good temperatures and reasonably accurate rainfall measurement.

Come back if you need any more advice.

The separate anemometer available from Davis and usually used with a VP2 can be attached to a Vue. Here is the advice from my UK supplier's website...

Note that the Vue system is not designed to receive data from any of the supplementary VP2 wireless transmitters, such as the Supplementary Temperature or Soil Moisture stations. (There is an exception in the case of the 6332 VP2 Anemometer Transmitter – more details on request).

thank you and my Vue is currently 2.8m above ground and its 20.5C right now and calm no winds with just 1.6kph gust right now

Bear in mind, you will need access to the Vue for regular maintenance when you mount it at 'xx' height.

Especially in Australia where spiders seem to like weather stations. Wear thick gloves Stevo when you clean it.
