VP2 Temp Failure

Over the last 6 days I have had an intermittent fault where the temperature data has not been transmitted to the console. This has caused -37c to show up on my software. I did re-insert the lead marked "temp" back into the outside transmitter and over the weekend it worked OK. Unfortunatley at 1010hrs today it stopped working again, re-inserting the lead this time hasnt worked. The rest of the data is unaffected.

This raises a few questions !
1. Is my station knackered ! has anyone else had this problem ?
2. Best place to have it repaired ?
3. Why does -37c appear and how can I remove this data from Cumulus, Weatherlink and the Wunderground site records.

To remove from Cumulus: open Oct09log.txt and dayfile.txt in a text editor, search for -37, and replace with, well I'm not sure what, exactly - Cumulus 1 doesn't have a 'null' value. For all-time records, if you still have a backup from a week ago, use the alltime.rec file from that, assuming you haven't broken any others records since. If you don't have an old enough backup, you'll have to use the all-time record editor, and correct it that way.

I don't know why it comes up with -37C. The station actually works in Fahrenheit, but -37C is a similar number in F anyway. It does sound a bit broken. I think to get it repaired, it needs to go to McMurdo.

Its has started to function again ! I wish it would make its mind up and then I good sort it out one way another.

Failed again this morning. This time no -37c. tempted to leave Cumulus running see what happens. Of out now to fiddle "wiv me wire"

My Davis VP2 temperature readings have just dropped to -39.6oC. I found this very old topic where you had a similar problem. How did your issue get resolved?
Any suggestions - is it a case of contacting the supplier?

Yep,

He puts a "Best Offer" on most of his auctions. You just make the offer at his advertized website price. I've bought many parts for my VP2 this way. It's just easier buying through eBay than off of another website.

How old is your station?

My station is about 5 years old but the temp/humidity sensor was replaced in August 2010, so it has lasted just under two years.
