Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Connection closed

Post by jba4576 »

I have upgrade from Cumulus 1 to MX without any problem except one.

The GUI and data is displaying nicely on my local network - but outside the firewall there is only GUI without any data. After some time I get the error 'Connect closed'
I have tried FF, IE and GC browers but receive the same result.
The firewall is open for *:8998 and my local Windows home Server 2008 have 8002 open.

Any ideas?   :?:

Does the firewall have 8002 open, and are you forwarding both 8998 and 8002 to the MX server? If you can't solve it, you could try switching to Ajax instead of web sockets - see one of the recent build announcements for details.

Thanks a lot - now it's working.
I was missing port 8002 in the firewall port section.
Now 8998 and 8002 is forwarding to and from the server.

You do realise that using this set-up exposes your settings page (and all it contains, such as passwords for FTP, or external services) to anyone accessing your dashboard from outside the firewall. Unless, of course, you have restricted access to the page in some way (username/password or IP address filtering)?
