ftp uploads when not connected to weather station

I am reinstalling the latest stable version of Cumulus on a new (second hand) windows XP desktop pc. I have set up cumulus and ftp configuration for 10 min updates including 30 sec live data but I have not yet connected to the weather station (fine offset via USB port). On running Cumulus I can see that realtime.txt is being received in my web server every 30 secs in the correct directory but none of the html pages are being sent at all over any length of time. Is this because there is no weather station attached? I'm hoping it is.

Yes, it is. Cumulus doesn't do periodic tasks until it's received valid data. It shouldn't really be sending the realtime.txt file, it's probably because of the different way the timer works for that.

OK thanks Steve,

In a way I'm pleased it is sending the .txt file as I know I have the ftp settings correct. I'll proceed to connecting the weather station which is down at the NUSC sailing club South Wales, its in your directory of weather stations! We have used your program for a number of years and we provided a donation back then when I first installed it. The problem was that the PC it was running on packed up at Christmas and I forgot to record all the settings. Now have another second hand PC running XP so I'm having to relearn everything. I'll see if the club is willing to provided a further donation as it has served us so well.

Cheers, John
