Cloud Base Unit Reverts Back To Feet

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Cloud Base Unit Reverts Back To Feet

Post by glen.day »

Hi Steve, not sure if you remember me. I was one of the first users of Cumulus 1.

Just want to say that CumulusMX is awesome, I'm running it on a Raspberry Pi which is controlling my Davis Vantage Vue weather station.

I just wanted to mention one bug I have located with the cloud base measurement. There doesn't seem to be a setting in the station settings web page to set the measurement. I did in fact find the setting in the Cumulus.ini and changed it to meters manually. That said whenever I make any further changes using the 'station settings' webpage it reverts the cloud measurmemt back to the feet measurement.

I'm using CumulusMX v3.0.0 build 3036.

Where are you looking at the cloudbase unit being displayed? There was an issue with the cloudbase gauge not being supplied with the setting, but that was fixed in 3035.
I can't see how the station settings page can revert the cloudbase setting, it doesn't have any code in it which affects that. It does write out the settings to Cumulus.ini

There are still a number of configuration options which don't appear on the user interface, I'll add them eventually, but I don't have much time for writing code at the moment, I am already spending far more time on Cumulus just on the forum than I really want to.

The setting I'm referring to is the 'CloudBaseInFeet=1'. I'm about 100% sure when you update the station settings web page it reverted back but that's cool I understand your busy, no need to stress I'll just wait until you finish configuring the cloud base measurement option.

Yes, I know where the setting is, what I'm asking is where are you seeing the setting reverting? Somewhere in particular on the display, or in Cumulus.ini, or everywhere? Are you editing Cumulus.ini with Cumulus stopped?

I've just tried setting CloudBaseInFeet=0 in Cumulus.ini, starting Cumulus and changing the station settings, but the CloudBaseInFeet settings stays at zero, so I don't understand how yours is doing something different.

At the time I was seeing it everywhere, in the Cumulus.ini and on the uploaded ftp gauges web page.

I just tried again to replicate but I was unable to. I wonder why this happened in the past, maybe I still had CumulusMX running? Who knows, sorry to waste your time.
