Problem with "monthlyrecord"

Post by wetterfrosch1971 »

Hi

first, I wish a happy new year.

And with the new year I have a Problem:

I clear the values in "monthlyalltime.ini", because I will for each year a new "monthlyrecord" on Webspace.

It works, I have now new "monthlyrecord value", but I works not all values ;-(

All temperature LOW Values, the HIGH pressure and LONGEST dry period are LOST ;-(

Can anybody help me, where is the Problem?

Many thanks.
Frank

I think it depends how you "cleared the values", if you set the low temperature to 0 for instance, that will not be set until you have a day that goes below 0. You would "clear it" by setting it to say 100.

You haven't had any dry days so far this year, so there is no record for that field.

Hi,

I clear the value manual, but the "new" value "0" has made cumulus when I restart the program

How can I reset the "monthlyrecord", because I want for each year a new "monthlyrecord".

Thanks

How are you 'clearing' them?

I close cumulus, than I open the file "monthlyalltime.ini" and clear each value manual with the "clear button" on my keyboard.

When I restart cumulus, cumulus write "0" in each value and so works only the "high" values, because "high" is actually higher than "0", but the "low" values doesn´t work, because "0" is lower than the actually low-value ;-(

sorry for my bad english, I hope, you understand me.

OK, so if you just delete the values, Cumulus will probably substitute a zero value for most of them. That is fine for the 'high' records, but not the low records. If you want for instance the low temperature record to be recorded, you should set it say 100, then Cumulus will record say 12C as the new record.

Bear in mind this is not how Cumulus is designed to work, so you may not get everything working as you wish.

Cumulus uses an initial value of 999 for low temperature records, so the first genuine reading overwrites it. But as Mark says, it depends on how you are clearing it. I don't know what the "clear button" on your keyboard does - mine doesn't have one. Deleting the line entirely should do it, in fact the simplest way is just to delete the file. But as Mark also says, this is not how Cumulus is intended to work. I use the NOAA reports to look at the highs and lows for each month in the current year.

You haven't got a 'longest dry period' because you haven't had any dry days this year yet.

Hi Steve,

I want on my WEBSITE for each year a separate "monthlyrecord-page".
for example:

monthlyrecord2015, monthlyrecord2016

I make a copy from the last data from last year from the datei monthlyrecord.htm and upload this datei with a new Name on my Webspace, so I habe now on my Webspace the monthlyrecord2015 (from january to december2015).

Now I need a clear new "monthlyrecord.ini" datei for create the new monthlyrecord for the year 2016

do you understand me?

thanks for help

Yes, I understand what you want. As I said, the simplest way to do that is to delete the ini file (while Cumulus is stopped) and it will then start again from that point. This is exactly how a new installation of Cumulus works. Deleting individual entries (deleting the whole line) should also work for individual items.

Do I understand correctly, I must delate the complet Datei "monthlyalltime.ini"?

OK, it works ;-)

I did not know, that I can delate the COMPLETE ini-datei, I thought I would have to delete each value IN the file.

thank you for help.

That's the easiest way of doing it, yes. You can also delete lines from the file. I know I just keep saying the same thing, but I can't think of any other ways of saying this to make it easier to understand.
