Rainfall since midnight

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Rainfall since midnight

Post by richard_newberry »

My Rainfall since midnight showing 233.4 mm and todays rainfall is Rainfall Today 0.9 mm

Rainfall Last Hour 0.6 mm
Rainfall since midnight 233.4 mm
Amount of rain in the last 24 hours 0.9 mm
Rainfall This Month 0.9 mm
Rainfall This Year 0.9 mm

Seems like Rainfall since midnight is buggy?

Any help much appreciated.

By the looks of it Steve. Your Rainfall since midnight is also showing incorrect values.

Rainfall since midnight showing 0.6mm Rainfall Today is showing 0.0mm.

I've found the bug; it's some code that should be executed for Davis stations on 1st January, but it's being executed for all station types. I'll fix it - your figure will correct itself tomorrow.

It will correct itself because tomorrow isn't the 1st January, so it won't execute the code.

Note also that 'rain since midnight' is redundant if your start of day is midnight - you may just as well use 'rain today'.

What do I put in it's place to make 6 rows, 5 rows will look abit odd.

Is Amount of rain in the last 24 hours since as Rainfall Today?

That's rather more serious and is a different problem. You will have to correct those yourself by editing the ini files. You can use the backup folders to find the alltime and monthly record figures, the ones for this month and this year are just today's figure.

Something went wrong with the start of day rain counter when it started up at 1721, I don't know whether this is because it apparently wasn't closed cleanly on the previous run. You clearly noticed a problem and corrected today's rainfall. I don't have time to look at this now to see if it's a problem in MX or because of that closedown, I'll look tomorrow. Could you attach your January log file in the meanwhile, please?

Rainfall rate is calculated over the previous 5 minutes.

It looks like today.ini was corrupted due to MX not being closed down cleanly, so the start of day rain counter was taken as zero. You need to make sure it's stopping correctly when you do the CTRL-C.
