Hi for the past 4 days I have had this intermittent error come up and stops upload to my web server as a result.

error is depicted in the image below.

Until today I was running version 3035 and installed 3036 today, which has not stopped the error coming up.

Hopefully someone may be able to help.

It looks to me like Cumulus can't write to a file (today.ini) because something else has that file open already.

I'd agree with that assessment, but the files in question are month.ini and year.ini for the two similar exceptions in the attached diags - it will be writing to those files fairly frequently at the moment.

Hi Steve, the only thing I have noticed recently is that my ADSL2Plus throughput has been woeful and wondered if that may be an issue with slow upload maybe locking files etc.

Admit I'm not fully up to speed with MX as yet. Also wondered why it shows C:\users\steve\documents\... is that normal ? as I do not have those directory paths (never have and all worked fine for months before).

Are you actually doing anything with month.ini and year.ini - uploading them to a web site or something? If not, a common cause of this kind of thing is anti-virus software.

Hi Steve no don't upload them and I never even touch the laptop (only when there's an error).
Re: Antivirus I run ZoneAlarm (have done for as long as I remember) never had an issue before.

If it makes any difference I run (VVP / CumulsMX and Cumuls1) but that's been running like that since early last year.

It's possible that it's a problem in MX somewhere, but that would also raise the question of why it has only just started happening, and why no-one else is apparently having the same problem. And MX protects itself from writing to the file at the same time in different threads.

Yes that's true, it's running again (over last 4 days it has only done it once or twice in a day) though today was down for 3 odd hours before I realized (fell asleep).

I'll keep an eye on it and let you know how it goes from here on.

mm that only ran for about 40 odd minutes and data stopped again.

I'm off to bed, no doubt it will do it again so will most likely be down rest of the night, will know when I awaken.

Happy New Year anyway, have a good one.

You could try using Process Explorer (available from Microsoft), or this - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/opened_files_view.html - to see which processes have the year.ini and month.ini files open.

Thanks Steve I'll try that today, as it turns out data stopped 30 odd minutes after I went to bed last night, found it still down when I awoke around 4 hours later. Cheers.

Hi Steve,

Just some feedback, not sure why but for last day and a half I have had absolutely no more of these issues - very strange.

Not changed anything either.

It could just be that Cumulus hasn't needed to write to the files, or at least is now writing to them less often, as the new month and year progress. But let's hope the problem really has gone away...
