Odd dayfile behavior

I typically close Cumulus, then put the computer to sleep or turn off each evening. This has been the case since installing Cumulus 5-6 years ago. No problems with doing this. A few days ago, when opening Cumulus to start the day, Cumulus opened just fine, but also the dayfile opened in my text reader(Notepad+). This hasn't happened before. A few days ago I had a problem with the station(an Ambient station) where the station lost contact with the base and also had some erroneous readings that I eventually corrected by editing the log file and using the backup files. Some how 1 line in the dayfile looks like this:
line 2490
13/12/15,10.1,270,22:47,15.8,07:09,44.1,14:31,29.80,23:45,29.94,00:14,0.00,00:14,0.00,25.7,13.3,3.6,17:32,19,13:13,91,00:14,0.000,0.0,44.1,14:31,37.8,14:24,9.9,07:09,0.00,00:14,15.8,07:09,18.4,09:49,-2.2,13:13,338,39.7,0.0,0,00:14,0,00:14

As you can see the dayfile for the 15th runs concurrently with the 14th. I tried editing the file to separate the 2, but it has not worked. Could this bee why when Cumulus opens, the file also opens?....confused(as usual)

Thanks for any help....

I'm afraid I have no idea why the file opens when you start Cumulus - I can't think of anything that Cumulus itself does which could cause that.

When you edited the file, did you have Cumulus stopped? That shouldn't actually matter, but I can't think of any way that you could edit the file and save it, but for the change to somehow not take effect.

Yes , Cumulus was closed....Files were edited, then Cumulus was re-opened....
I'l try it again....but since Cumulus only write the dayfile the 1st time its opend after midnight, I won't really knowif it fixes this until the next day......

Thank you Steve...Merry Christmas from Colorado USA

Perhaps there's a hidden character in there which causes the lines to appear joined again when the file is written out again (I assume you opened it again to check it immediately after saving it). But Cumulus doesn't re-write the file, it just appends a new entry at midnight.
