I'll try to explain my problem.
A few days ago, I had to format my pc. Reinstall XP and Cumulus. Now I have FTP Connect Timeout.
This is my ftplog.txt

Assuming those 8 connections are all from Cumulus, we need to find out why they're not being disconnected. What does the ftp log show before that error starts occurring? What upload interval are you using?

Realtime ftp just uses one connection, which it makes at start up, and only reconnects if it detects that the connection has been lost.
What is your 'normal' ftp upload interval?
What I really need to see is the log from when those connections on your ftp panel were created, to try to see why they weren't disconnected. I assume that these happen shortly after starting Cumulus.

Normal FTP upload is 5 minutes. Where I can find this log?
My English is very basic to explain my problem, I hope you understand

It's the same log that you uploaded, ftplog.txt, but I need to see it from when the problem occurred, when your 8 ftp slots were used up at just after 13:50. If that's not in the log, you could try stopping Cumulus, disconnecting those connections using the panel, and then starting Cumulus again. I assume 13:50 was approximately when you started Cumulus?

Your English is fine. I understand the problem

Now, I did this.
- Disconnect FTP connections from my web panel
- Reinstall Cumulus and run it
- Waiting for a moment...
Now, in my web panel
Code: Select all
Session Login time
pure-ftpd (IDLE) Sun Sep 27 17:44:38 2009
pure-ftpd (IDLE) Sun Sep 27 17:48:26 2009
pure-ftpd (IDLE) Sun Sep 27 17:44:17 2009
I'm waiting for FTP Connection Timeout, then I post my ftplog.txt
A lot of thanks, Steve

I'm afraid the ftp logging isn't very good, and sometimes it's hard to see what's going on. I don't understand why you suddenly see the 'too many connections' error, when it hasn't made a new connection - unless the realtime ftp has made a new one. From this log, it looks like there is some failure when trying to upload a file. It's strange that thios has started happening after a reformat/reinstall - do you definitely have the same ftp settings in Cumulus?
You could try turning onthe debug log, and see if Cumulus logs any messages about ftp.
There are some improvements to ftp in the 1.8.8 beta, perhaps you could try that? See the announcements section for a download link.

Steve, I have the same problems. What can we do? Will be my hosting? my new router? I don't know...

Does the ftp log look the same?
Perhaps you could experiment with the settings - turn off realtime and see what happens. At least we could then determine whether these connections are realtime or not. Use 'netstat' on your system to watch the connections to the ftp server.
On my system there are two 'permanent' ftp connections for realtime (each ftp connection takes up two TCP/IP connections), then every 10 minutes two more connections for the 'normal' ftp, which then get disconnected after the upload. So I never have more than 4 connections open.

Hi Steve,
ftplog is the same.
I turned off realtime and now only update every 5'.
I understand:
- 2 connections for realtime (C1)
- 2 connections for "normal" update (C1)
and I have Weatherlink running (Virtual VP), update every 5' too

I've just noticed you said you also had Weatherlink running, but you said before that all the ftp connections were from Cumulus. Is Weatherlink uploading to the same site? How many ftp connections does it show in the panel?
Did turning off realtime updating not help?
You could try turning on the debug log and see what is logged in there.
