Potential issue with Rainfall Records inthe local interface?

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Potential issue with Rainfall Records inthe local interface?

Post by philpugh »

I was checking some records using the :8998 interface and came across what appears to be an anomaly with the rainfall values and I'm not sure where the problem is.

I have include three images from the affected screens.

Firstly the "This Year" selection on Records:
Image

Note the High Daily Rain. It is giving 12 December 2012 as the highest, wrong value and not this year. 12/12/12 was a dry day! Note that the value is the same as the highest Month (November)

The "All Time" selection gives:
Image
This gives (correctly) Dec 2012 with the 'correct' total.

Finally selecting "Dec" gives:
Image
With the correct value for monthly rainfall.

Is a parameter/tag getting read incorrectly somewhere?

I don't have that problem, and the code looks OK. Did you run build 3033 while that was available? It screwed up some dates (but not values, as far as I can remember). Does year.ini show the same thing? Presumably you copied a Cumulus 1 set of data - was the problem already present?

I did run 3033 and the original stuff was from V1.x

The alltime.ini has :

[Rain]
highrainratevalue=177.2
highrainratetime=10/08/2015 13:14:25
highdailyrainvalue=29.3999996185303
highdailyraintime=15/05/2013 00:00:00
highhourlyrainvalue=16.2000007629395
highhourlyraintime=05/07/2015 15:30:00
highmonthlyrainvalue=152.399993896484
highmonthlyraintime=01/12/2012 00:00:00
longestdryperiodvalue=25
longestdryperiodtime=31/07/2015 00:00:00
longestwetperiodvalue=23
longestwetperiodtime=03/01/2014 00:00:00

for the rain section.

year.ini shows the problem however...

[Rain]
High=177.2
HTime=10/08/2015 13:14:25
HourlyHigh=16.2000007629395
HHourlyTime=05/07/2015 15:30:00
DailyHigh=145
HDailyTime=12/12/2013 21:26:00

MonthlyHigh=145
HMonthlyTime=30/11/2015 15:47:57
LongestDryPeriod=25
LongestDryPeriodTime=31/07/2015 00:00:00
LongestWetPeriod=23
LongestWetPeriodTime=03/12/2015 23:00:00

Best way to fix this please?

You will need to stop Cumulus and edit alltime.ini and year.ini manually as MX has no editors. Or copy back to Cumulus 1 and get it to do it. Or load a copy of dayfile.txt into a spreadsheet and sort by daily rain, to find correct values.

Do your Cumulus 1 alltime.ini and year.ini not show the same?

I will check the 'old' Cumulus Files - they are not on line at present.

As all my data is recorded in a MySQL database it isn't too difficult to find the correct value - I was checking these values aginst those from the CMX Interface when I spotted the discrepancy.
Thanks Steve.
