Recently I started seeing this problem and I wonder if there is any solution to it.
Occasionally, the connection to the weather station is lost (the USB connection), but Cumulus keeps sending data out to WU and CWOP. There is no error message that the connection was lost; however, the time stamp (lower right corner) correctly indicates when the last data was read off the w/s. The data sent out is a repeat of the last data recorded when the connection was fine (so all graphs flatline).
I am wondering if there is something that can be configured to stop sending data if no new data is received for over a specified period (or if the connection is lost).
A word of explanation: I am using a wireless USB hub, so the USB connection it this case is over a wireless network. In the past, when that USB over wireless connection was lost, Cumulus would stop reporting data and would show all 0s on the display. Now it seems that when that connectivity is lost, the display keeps showing the same value (as of the last connectivity) and sends the data to on-line services like nothing happened.
I realise that a wireless USB creates additional challenges (;-).

Re: Cumulus keeps sending data out, but connection to w/s lo
It's possible that I will do something about this in a future version of Cumulus MX, I'm pretty sure there is already a request for this in the enhancement request section.
The 'restart if data stops' setting is intended as a limited work around for this, in Cumulus 1. If the connection is lost, Cumulus will restart itself, and if it cannot reconnect, it will not log any new data. You then have to fix the problem and restart Cumulus (manually).

Re: Cumulus keeps sending data out, but connection to w/s lo
Thanks. I have set the "restart if data stops" and we will see if this helps. I will come back in a few days (or weeks) to report on the results.
Thanks again
