A couple of data update issues

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

A couple of data update issues

Post by langstroth2 »

I've had CumulusMX running for 12hrs or so now on a RaspberryPi (v2) - after a few niggles with setup (Pi related, not MX), really pleased with the MX version of Cumulus, thanks Steve.

I've noticed a couple of data issues:

1) The External Temp readings have stopped being updated on MX. They are OK on the LCD display that picks the data up from the radio link to the sensors, so the actual sensor is OK. I checked the data logs directly and the external temp data isn't being updated.

2) The wind reading on the dial doesn't match that on the LCD display - but does change, so there's an update going on somewhere! (both are set for mph)

Any ideas why this would be, what I could check?

(FineOffset station, USB link to Pi running Raspbian - Jessie v8.0 / Mono 3.2.8)

Have you set a 'spike removal' for temperature? If so, you've probably made it too small.

See the FAQ for an explanation of how the station readings relate to the figures displayed by Cumulus - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#What_d ... tations.3F

The pointer on the wind gauge displays 'latest' by default, which is 'gust' on a Fine Offset console.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Temperature.
Doh, what a plonker. I get occasional "negative" spikes (e.g. -25C), so I'd set a spike removal that was a minus number - I can see now having thought about it what would then happen in the code!......removed it and all is now fine

Thanks, understood

MX rocksolid, ticking away on RPi. Great job Steve.

I'm building an additional dashboard page so I can have summary sensor displays on house power consumption and generation from panels etc, by re-using the steelseries gauge libraries etc.

I'd rather re-use the webserver that Cumulus installs, rather than run another one in Rpi's limited CPU; is this possible / advisable. I can't work out though where (for example) api/data/currentdata URL is pointing to so I can add additional scripts etc. Sorry if a bit of a noob question. I get that the static HTML are in the interface folder.

The API URLs are 'virtual', they don't references files. I haven't had time to document them, but they use JSON for the returned data, so you can invoke them in your browser - you'll need to look at the supplied javascript to find out the URLs - and by looking at the JSON tags it should be clear what data is currently available.

A consequence of the above is that to use the API, you have to use MX as the web server - only MX understands the URLs.
