Downloading Data - Please Wait

Hi Steve,

This isn't in any way a problem with Cumulus, which I find to be just what I wanted it to be.

I was just wondering whether there was a way to dismiss or at least hide the message box which shows up initially during boot up with the "Downloading Data - Please wait" message please?

In my case, it sits right in the middle of my PC screen for up to a minute and it will not relinquish its position at the top of the pile so I can't see anything behind it.

Basically, I can't do anything with my PC until the message disappears.

Is there anything I can do about that please?

I needed to do something to stop people 'interfering' with Cumulus while the archive download in progress, and that box is part of that. I think how 'bossy' that box is depends on the station type, partly because of the different ways that each station works. It wasn't really my intention that it would force itself to the top like that, but that's the way it is, I'm afraid.

It sounds like you have Cumulus starting automatically when the PC starts up, do you have Cumulus set to start minimised also? I'm not sure, but that setting (and perhaps also 'minimise to tray;)
might cause the box not be such a nuisance. If not, all I can suggest is patience :)

By the way, your user name is familiar to me even though you have just joined, so I think we must share an interest other than weather.

I'll give that a try - thanks Steve.

As to my username, I tend to use it or something like it in most, if not all of the fora I visit.

Perhaps it might be to do with Rover cars, Jaguar Cars, Railway Modelling, Mensa or Dungeons and Dragons?

Certainly intriguing :D

Paul

After a bit of googling, I see that it is railway modelling.

Hmm...

Cumulus appears to have a mind of its own Steve.

I told it to start minimised and it totally ignored me... somewhat like SWMBO in fact

Sorry, I've no idea, that setting works for me, and I know others use it.

Yes - that was the setting I meant. "Start minimised" in the display settings. With the option of "minimise to tray".

I had told it to start minimised via Windows Steve.

Using the configuration page, it does what it is told. Doesn't get rid of the message box though. Not to worry though, it was just an idea. I can easily live with it.

What is your railway modelling username Steve? Also, which fora please?

I don't have a layout pro tem but will no doubt get the itch again soon.

It was a bit of a long shot.

I am often 'klaatu' unless that has been taken. I'm on "New Railway Modellers", "Model Rail Forum" and RMweb, but I haven't been active on any for a while. I originally got part way through an N gauge layout, but then took over a larger room and went OO. Development stopped for quite a while as the room was being used for storage, but by coincidence in the last couple of weeks I cleared out some of the junk in there and I'm making progress again.
