I had Cumulus MX installed on my Imac running OSX 10.11.1. Everything was working fine then I unplugged the Imac to install a surge protector. After that I get error 8998. I have tried deleting the cumulus file, unplugging the station then restarting computer then plugging back in and trying fine offset as well as undefined. The web address is http://192.168.1.3:8998/ and everything after the : is grayed out. I never had any trouble with Cumulus when I ran it on windows 7 but I have been spending hours trying to get it to work consistently on my Imac. One more thing if I turn the poer of I have to reinstall the program only this time I get an error message.
Thanks

Re: Error port 8998
If it happens again, I'll need more information than this. You have mentioned errors but don't say what the error messages were or where you saw them - screenshots will help. I will also need the zipped-up MXdiags folder - instructions are in the post linked to near the top of the forum, ignore the part about the actual zipping, as a Mac user you presumably know how to do that part yourself, but the instructions for attaching the file to a forum post are still valid for MX.

Re: Error port 8998
Steve:
After unplugging then plugging back in MX worked fine all the way until I went to bed last night. Got up this morning and it wouldn't work again. Downloaded and installed build 3034 to see if that helped but didn't. I have attached the diags file and pasted the terminal info. Haven't unplugged this time yet.
Thanks;
Steve

Re: Error port 8998
I'm afraid that single diags file isn't much use - it's from a new installation of Cumulus before the station type has been set, so nothing is happening. nor would anything be expected to be happening. It doesn't correspond with the terminal information you've posted, it's clearly from a different run.
From what you've posted it just looks like the usual Fine Offset USB lockup problem, so using the 'synchronise Fine Offset reads' setting may help, it does for many Fine Offset users. But that's just a guess based on the available information.
