ERROR MESSAGE
Maybe I am doing something wrong, if so please give me an idea as to what that might be. I have on occasion gotten an error message 32701 unable to connect to station, and could always clear it by UNPLUGGING AND PLUGGING the USB cable from the computer to the station, not now though. I am using a Davis Vantage Vue and Cumulus software on a WIN 7 machine. I have been running it with little issue for about 6 months. Anyone else have this issue or know what to do to resolve it?
Also it seems to take a lot longer to start up and slow to fill the boxes on the display, any way to clear the cache or memory to speed it up?
Thanks in advance
AL

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
Are you using the latest serial/USB drivers from the Silabs web site? Does the virtual COM port for the logger show in device manager?KF5SMH WX wrote:I have on occasion gotten an error message 32701 unable to connect to station, and could always clear it by UNPLUGGING AND PLUGGING the USB cable from the computer to the station, not now though.
If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look. I may not be able to say any more than 'it can't connect', unfortunately.
This, perhaps - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#Cumulu ... t_start_upAlso it seems to take a lot longer to start up

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
What type of logger do you have? You mention unplugging the USB cable, but you've selected a TCP/IP type in Cumulus. A USB logger requires the Serial type to be selected in Cumulus.

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
If you set it back to serial and let me have the diags file for that, I'll take another look.

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
I had to wait for it to update after the reset.

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
That's the same set of files that you uploaded previously, there is no new run in there.

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
You've changed to the correct logger type, and it appears to be working fine?

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
This AM yes so far, yesterday it ran for approx an hour and then did it again. Prior to this foul up beginning I had it on the serial logger I know because it sent out a QST over the radio every thirty minutes for approx 4 months. What has occurred here now is beyond my understanding, I will watch it today and see how it does, if it works OK great, if not I will post again with the debug file.
Thanks for all of your help

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
Oh well it did it again, not sure what causes it, at the time it happened there were no other comports active. I had thought perhaps one of my radio programs on a comport interfered with its operation.
Thanks Again Steve!

Re: ERROR MESSAGE
Yes, communication with the logger is just suddenly lost. Some things you can try:
1. Make sure the USB cable is firmly connected, perhaps try a different cable or a different USB port.
2. Make sure the logger is firmly connected - I have read that this is a common problem with some Vues.
3. Make sure you have the latest Silabs USB driver installed
4. Make sure you have all USB power saving disabled, both in the power settings and in the USB hub entries in device manager.
