Cumulus MX Rainfall Corections

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Cumulus MX Rainfall Corections

Post by Paxsman »

First I am sorry if I did a poor job looking for the answer prior to posting...

I have found the FAQ for correcting rainfall data in Cumulus but I am having difficulty understanding where to correct the incorrect data inputs in MX. I see multiple files in the data folder with the incorrect info. Do I need to change them all? Can you point me to the correct FAQ for MX. I would also like to edit the monthly and yearly totals as well.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Most of the Cumulus 1 FAQ (and Wiki) applies to MX. There is an additional FAQ for MX here - https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12943

Apart from the recently added 'today's rain' editor, MX does not have the editors that Cumulus 1 has, so you have to edit files by hand.

With MX, if you have multiple files with data that you want to change, you will need to edit them all. The descriptions of the data files in the Wiki also apply to MX. The FAQ about correcting the monthly and annual rainfall also applies to MX - i.e. they are calculated by adding the daily entries in dayfile.txt (and optionally adding a 'year to date' figure to the annual total for the first year).

It is unusual to have problems with bad rainfall data with Davis stations, what happened?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have just recently upgraded from a VP1 to a VP2 so I finally decided to give Cumulus MX a shot. As far as what happened I really do not know the answer. What I will tell you is I have been trying to integrate Cumulus MX to a Meteobridge with very little luck. I have made connections to the Meteobridge but once the server is restarted or Cumulus is shut down the server will not reconnect. So last night I removed the Meteobridge and plugged the Belfryboy USB data logger into the server (Win-7 laptop). After a few minutes of fiddling with the settings I was connected. I started looking everything over and found my daily rainfall and rainfall rates were (I think) 46.?? I don't know what happened (I am sure I did something wrong) but I do want to correct it. If it continues or if I have further issues I will shoot you the log files.

It's likely that while it wasn't able to connect properly, it got a total rainfall figure of zero (it uses the annual rainfall to calculate everything else) and then when you got it connected properly, it got the correct figure and counted that all at once.
