Is the temp sensor movable to where it could be placed inside of a homemade FARS? I need to mount it a good 20-30 feet away from the main outdoor unit.

I believe it is not possible to do this! The VantageVue is a compromise solution with good quality components. You would need to spend two or three times as much to do what you want with a Davis system. One alternative route would be to look at a homemade system. Something I have started to investigate.

After reading bad reports about Davis Customer Service, I decided to instead go with a Ambient Weather WS-2095 which I can make a custom FARS for when I have more time.

My only experience with their customer support has been a positive one. When my anemometer broke in Dec 2013 with a gust around 56mph I recovered the unit and determined it was down to a failure of the unit that should be able to withstand winds of 100mph+.
I wrote to Davis with photos and they sent me replacement cups. And as you can see I live in England. I did have to persevere a little but they did do the right thing.
