RasPi and PiGlow

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

RasPi and PiGlow

Post by bzncrew »

Just ordered one of these from Amazon. Cheap $10 and looks like a fun toy to play with.

Here's a guy who used an LEDBorg to light up with a rain forecast.

With some creativity, one could use this PiGlow to signal all kinds of stuff with the data from Cumulus.
Severe weather with color coded for snow, rain, wind.
Animation for heavy winds
Change in pressure or heavy rainfall

I'm just trying to imagine what kinds of things it could visually display on your Pi.
My Pi is sitting behind my Vantage Pro and is mostly hidden. It could signal with a bright light if a storm were predicted.

I know Steve probably has better things to do, but an alert from CumulusMX to trigger one of these scripts might be a perfect application for alerts.
