Error when connecting

Post by amaclac »

Each time I connect to update Cumulus, I am getting an Error message. I am using Version 1.9.4 Build 1094. The Red error light goes once I have viewed the message and clicked "close"

You have to close Cumulus and edit Aug15log.txt which you will find in Cumulus\data to remove some bad data in line 215 of the file.

Once you have corrected it to look like the other lines in the file, save it and then restart Cumulus and the error should go away.

How do I access the Aug15log.txt? I have used the search option and found 14 possibles but they all open up in "Notepad" format and I cannot make head or tail of them

Close Cumulus, open the file in Cumulus\data with something like Notepad and edit line 215.

Once edited save the file, close Notepad and reload Cumulus.

This is what I think line 215 looks like - I assume the space should not be there but I cannot see how to delete the space

Put the cursor at the left end of the first line with spaces in it i.e. under the 0 of 05 and then press the delete button carefully one click at a time until the line at the bottom of the gap moves up and closes the gap. Do this slowly and carefully so as not to lose some valid data.

Once the gap is closed Save the file using the File menu and then close Notepad. Then reopen Cumulus.

I have tried this and after probably a couple of hundred clicks an incomplete line of data came across and deleted, reducing the gap by one space. I kept pressing delete for several hundred more clicks but the gap did not reduce. Any thought? And thanks for your help!

I know it seems silly but the fact is there are non viewable control characters in there and eventually you will delete them all, so keep going as you must delete them all before Cumulus will work again.

OK - I have successfully closed the gap but still getting the same error. When I search for Aug15, I get 16 results and I have edited the first one. There is a gap on line 215 on the next one that I checked. Do I need to delete the gap on all 16 entries? (I am assuming that since we are on day 16 of August, that is why I am getting 16 possibilities?)

The file need to be completely contiguous, no gaps in the middle and make sure the last line has no none viewable characters in it by putting the cursor under the last lines 0 and pressing delete until it seems not to have deleted any other characters. Then save it and restart Cumulus.

But do I need to do this on all 16 Aug15 files the search is finding?

You should not have 16 Aug15 files, where are all of these located? Perhaps a screenshot of the found files....

Don't use search, just edit the file in Cumulus\data
