The VantageVue is a bit of a compromise unfortunately. I have mine mounted at 3m above the ground . Luckily it is open to the winds apart from a bit of blocking by the house 45m away. Readings are still a bit on the low side. I decided to live with it as there is no practical way I can measure 'real' wind speed at 10m above ground, to estimate the multiplier, without buying another sensor. It is possible to add an additional wind sensor to the VantageVue - allowing it to be positioned at the 'correct' height.
