Stay Calm!

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Stay Calm!

Post by logjam »

Now the wind has dropped I've notice that the Beaufort description <#beaudesc> continues to report 'Calm' even when the wind speed goes above 0.7mph. The Beaufort number <#beaufortnumber> correctly changes to '1', but the description remains 'Calm'.

It's F1 here right now (3 mph avg), having been calm previously, and it's correctly showing 'Light air'.

It does use a slightly different method for converting from the units in use to m/s, so it's possible that at borderline values, the two might differ. I'll change them to both use exactly the same calculation.

Edit: My speed is now 4 mph, and it's showing F2 but still 'Light air'.

I was hoping to let you know at what point the <#beaudesc> changes to 'Light Air', but the wind speeds here are too light at the moment. It is higher than 2.2mph, and from your own reading less than 3.0

<wspeed>=0.6 <#beaufortnumber>= 0 <#beaudesc> is 'Calm'.
<wspeed>=0.8 <#beaufortnumber>= 1 <#beaudesc> is 'Calm'.
<wspeed>=2.2 <#beaufortnumber>= 1 <#beaudesc> is 'Calm'.

I hadn't noticed any problems with any other transitions, but I guess it is more noticeable when it says it is calm, but registering a number '1'.

I only just noticed the upgrade. :oops:
I didn't realised you had sorted it already! 8-)

EDIT: The 3026 version is now running . . . . and if the wind speed would just go over 0.7mph . . .

EDIT: 0.7mph force 1 & 'Light Air'. Success! :clap:
