hello,

Would anyone know what the red LED means on the top of the transmitter near the solar panel when it's permanently on?

thanks.

Hi,

Presumably you mean on the Solar Pod of a WH308x station?

Permanently on, generally means that the internal mirocontroller of the Pod has "crashed" and needs to be reset (a well-known issue, but the cause seems never to have been fully identified). Normally, the LED should only flash once per minute to indicatre a transmission of data (and perhaps for a brief time after a reset or inserting batteries).

The reset procedure is not well described. There is a button underneath, OR you can unplug the cable from the transmitter box (or remove the transmitter's batteries) AND cover the sloping PV panel in the Pod (because daylight falling onto the PV panel can keep the micro running).

Cheers, Alan.

Hi Allan,

Yes, the Solar Pod.
I've done various actions to give the station a reset.

- Pulled Batteries out (both in and outdoor units)
- Set the whole station up as if it were the first time.
- Changed batteries (back using the default ones now)
- Entering manual RF mode in conjunction with using the reset button (As mentioned on Page 3 of: http://www.holmanindustries.com.au/wp-c ... manual.pdf
- Cleaned all sockets, and golden connectivity pins
- Both devices are close to each other inside while I'm trying to sync the two.
- Emailed FOSHK with the response "Can you press “reset” button on light/uv sensor to see if the reset process can be finished? it might be possible that solar panel made the circuit not reset properly."

Ive now tried your suggestion of covering the Panel to help reset the device, and still no luck.
The indoor receiver unit has the Memory display still set to full, could that have anything to do with it?,
(ie: can't send data, indoor device memory full)

Thanks.

EDIT:

Fixed (I hope :D... )

I have a slightly older Fine Offset station (think WH3080?), I tested it's Solar Panel/Heat Shield with my newer station and it worked straight away. So it's clearly that component. Although I'm not completely satisfied with the "fix" as the previous station had some issues, hence the upgrade, so I'll now look into getting that individual component (if possible).

Thanks.

Hi,

No, the Pod/Transmitter doesn't "know" what's happening in the Console. But in any case, the memory does not "fill up", it has a "circular buffer" which deletes the oldest data to make way for the new. But if you do want/need to reset the Console then you may need to remove the USB cable and the batteries for up to a minute.

If the Pod LED is "on continuously" then I'm afraid I think we have to assume it's faulty. There is a very long thread concering issues with the Solar Pod, but I can't think of anything related to your particular problem.

Cheers, Alan.
