Advice for new hardware

The wind sensor on my Oregon Scientific WMR 968 has died for the second time and I think I should upgrade to more modern hardware. I'm looking for advice as to what units I should research based on my preferences.

Here's what I like about my WMR 968:

1. Works well with Cumulus.
2. Has separate sensors for Wind, Outside Temp, Rain, and Indoor Temp.
3. Solar powered with both rechargeable and lithium batteries.
4. Reasonable cost (Under $450 for complete setup).
5. Wireless units seem to communicate well within my house.
6. Requires little or no maintenance.

Here's what I don't like about the WMR 968:

1. Wind sensor dies every 2 years.
2. Requires a serial to USB converter to connect to my computer.

Other info:
I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. Someday, I will be forced to change to Windows 8.

I am prepared to do a reasonable amount of research to pick the best unit for my needs, but I would like to get some suggestions to narrow he field before I start.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Ken

The Davis Vue with datalogger, at the sellers' best price would be close to your budget. That would then be Davis quality, accuracy and reliability. But it is an all-in-one unit.

Enjoy,
Paul

I would second PaulMy. I started with a simpler station but bought a VantageVue about 3 years ago. Other than one battery change it has given me trouble free operation. The previous unit had problems with spiders in the rain gauge tipper. Not had a problem with the Vue in the same location.

Just moved to a Raspberry Pi B2 and CumulusMX. Running very well.
