I have a VP2 Pro + Logger connected to a router, along with Cumulus. Over the last couple of months my power company has had power outages, which shut down my PC. When rebooted, Cumulus will not run correctly because the IP address changed. I tried to use a 'My IP Address' site to determine the correct address., but no 'found' IP address was correct. I have Weatherlink software installed on a separate PC, which I normally don't use. Weatherlink Local Device Find will display an IP address that is acceptable to Cumulus. When rebooted after a power outage, Weatherlink resets correctly, connects with the VP2 and begins to report data.
However, I do not like the display format on Weatherlink. Also, Cumulus allows continuous data feeds to several weather sites such as US NOAA. I prefer to use Cumulus for many various reasons.
However, after every power outage reboot, I have to manually go into Weatherlink to determine the correct IP address for use in Cumulus. I installed a UPS to prevent power loss.
But I have now found that Cumulus will intermittently stop running, even with a constant power supply. I go to Weatherlink on the other PC, determine the IP being used by Weatherlink, enter that IP into Cumulus, and then restart Cumulus.
1) Is there any way to determine the correct internal IP address that Cumulus requires, other than going into Weatherlink?
2) Would there be any way to add an IP look up into Cumulus in a newer version?

Re: Reconnection problem...
Unless I'm misunderstanding the issue, doesn't giving the logger a fixed IP address solve the problem?
In theory, the Davis DLL which Cumulus uses should accept a MAC address, but I believe when people have tried this in the past, it doesn't work.
