mysql retention for realtime

the correct way to set retention for realtime to set it for 1 week?

If you mean the retention setting in MX, then you just specify the interval value. My instructions do give examples, and one of them is 1 WEEK.
The realtime.txt upload has an optional 'retention' setting, which will cause entries older than the value specified to be deleted from the database after each upload. It should be specified as a MySQL 'interval', e.g. 24 HOUR or 1 DAY or 1 WEEK etc.
If you don't mean that setting, then as Mark says, more context required.

I should have been a bit clearer I was ask about retention setting in MX
I read

should work don't use the word 'ínterval'
