need help with web

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

need help with web

Post by colsceg »

CumulusMx installed, started. It logs a new record every 15 minutes in Jun15log.txt, so far so good. But now I want it to create the appropriate .htm file, but in the web Directory I find only the templates. So what I have to do?

Ok, I did that all, and running cumulusmx.sh -c gives me an ok in every point. that means FTP - WEB space connection is fine.
But before uploading a file, I need a file uploading for.
What I miss e.g. is index.htm, I see only indexT.htm in directory web.
Which record in Cumulus.ini tells the programm create all this .htm-files
I've just a SSH connection to the Raspberry where the CumulusMX runs, so I can't see the GUI. I've made the configuration by editing the ini-file.

The indexT.htm and the other xxxxT files are the standard template files that Cumulus processes and uploads as index.htm, other xxxx.htm to your website at the interval you have set, the same as in Cumulus1. For this you only need to fill in the Internet settings.

In addition to these standard template files you can have other files and your own with webtags that you can add as additional to be processed and uploaded by Cumulus - i.e. realtimegauges.txt.

Enjoy,
Paul

Why can you not see the GUI? What happens when you put http://<ip address of your pi>:8998/ into your browser?

Hello colsceg
What Steve wrote is very important.
Before you continue with any other configuration, you need to make sure, that your GUI is accessable.
Do you know the IP Address of your Raspberry Pi ?
If not, login as pi using SSH and enter the command: ifconfig eth0 | grep 'inet' | cut -d: -f2 | awk '{ print $1}'
This will show you the IP address of your Raspberry pi
Now point your webbrowser on your windows box to this IP Address: for example http://192.168.1.5:8998
You should see the GUI of Cumulus ......if not, please see the the SSH window, where you started CumuluxMX with the command: sudo mono CumulusMX.exe
Did you see any error there?
you can also check directly on yuo Pi, if your Pi is listening on the TCP Port 8998. Of course, you can not stop the SSH window where CumulusMX was being startet. Open a second SSH connection and insert: netstat -an |grep 8998
As a resuklt you should see: tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8998 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

Ok, now I understand the line "Cumulus is running at: http://*:8998/" when I start Cumulus.
I put in this with the raspberry IP in my browser and voila, I see the Cumulus GUI. I had been always wondering what this line want's telling me.
So it's much easier now makeing the appropriate settings, but editing the ini-file directly.
So far now all works fine, thank's a lot.

you are right, but I did not even figured out, what to do, to see the UI. Just typing http://.. into the browser.... ok, I did not get that.
As all the other guys got that, I think I'm not that intelligent or may be my english is too bad.
Anyway, it works and I think you've made a really nice and useful program, thank's for that, it's worth a donation for sure.
