Website creation question

I am not sure how to actually see the weather display (i.e. what is the URL).

My site location for the weather display should be www.bouldercast.com/weather

But, when I go there, it just brings up a directory, when I can look at every file in that folder from my site.

Any help? I followed directions from the cumulus help, but to no avail. It said to name the FTP directory the same name that you want to use in the URL...

For the FTP directory, you need to specify the path to your 'weather' directory from the point in the file hierarchy that your ftp account logs you in. That might be just "weather", but it might be something like "public_html/weather", or "www/weather" or any one of many other possibilities, as web hosting is arranged differently by different providers. You should be able to work out what the path is from the directories that you have to go through to get to your weather directory in your ftp client.

I am confident the FTP is working, as the script works and produces the images and files. Is there an example of what the output page should look like.

My FTP directory is home/public_html/weather. It finds all that information fine, but then creates the images, graphs, and text files in the home/public_html folder. I can look at the graphs and such, but I am just curious what I need to use as the URL to actually have all the pieces show up in a weather display page?

The URL in your first post would be correct, if the files were going to the correct place. If Cumulus is putting everything in /home/public_html, then the 'change working directory' to the directory you have supplied is failing, so the path you have supplied is not understood by the ftp server. You just need to put 'weather' for the directory, as you are already in /home/public_html when you log in. '/home/public_html/weather' might also work, but sometimes ftp servers don't behave as you might think when given an absolute path.

Thank you very much it worked. I should know better about how ftp works, but I just didnt see that. I didnt need to specify the entire path in the software, just "/weather/". Worked first time!

I will need to tinker some more, but presumably there is a way to customize the text in the weather display....hmm

There is information in the wiki about modifying the supplied pages, or replacing them with your own. There are also a number of complete alternatives developed by others - e.g. the Saratoga and 'Weather by You' templates, which have their own sections in the forum.
