Testing using 1 x Fine Offset

Hi,
Looking for a bit of advice.

I have a PC which is running Cumulus 1.9.4 and has my Fine Offset connected to it. My aim is to replace the PC with a Raspberry PI running Cumulus MX, the PI is all configured and ready to go. However, I do not want to lose any data on my existing setup so if I shutdown Cumulus on the PC, disconnect the weather station and then connect to the PI and start MX will:

1) MX retrieve all data currently stored on the Fine Offset or will it start recording from when it was connected.
2) Once I have finished testing the PI / MX and connect back to by PC / Cumulus set up, will Cumulus 1.9.4 also recover the data from the Fine Offset since it was disconnected or will it only get the data from when it was re-connected. (Assuming of course the test does not take so long as for the Fine Offset to overwrite the data)

Any assistance appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

Cumulus 1 and Cumulus MX are the same in this respect - a new install starts recording from the point where you first run it, after which it downloads data from the logger from the point where it was last closed down.

Thanks Steve.
So when I plug into MX on the PI it will start from scratch.
When I plug back into Cumulus 1.9.4 it will get all the data since I shut down 1.9.4.

Is that correct?

Yes. Note as always that logger data is not as good as live data as it does not contain all of the readings, so highs and lows are not necessarily present, and the longer your station logger interval, the less data points there are.

Thanks Steve,
Managed to get the Station connected to MX using the PI last night and accesible from a couple of local devices. Still have a few issues to solve but these are more on my test bed and ftp but will keep chipping away.

I just wanted to make sure that I would not lose the main data that gets downloaded to my existing weather site while I tested MX on the PI.

Appreciate you help.
