Question about configuration CumulusMX and Davis Station

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Hello
I had a private message from a Forum Member who's not able to write in english and asking quesiotns, so I am writing in his name. He is having a Davis Weatherstation, CumulusMX and a Raspberry PI
I finally pointed him to pull the Diags file and here is the error message he get:

As far as I can see, CumulusMX is not finding the Weatherstation, right?
Can anybody advice? Sorry for asking such kind of questions, but since I have no access to the hardware, I am out of ideas

Yes, looks like /dev/ttyUSB1 is not the correct device. If he looks at the output from dmesg, he should see something like this:

[4293933.836731] usb 1-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=10c4, idProduct=ea60
[4293933.836755] usb 1-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[4293933.836773] usb 1-1.2: Product: CP2101 USB to UART Bridge Controller
[4293933.836790] usb 1-1.2: Manufacturer: Silicon Labs
[4293933.836806] usb 1-1.2: SerialNumber: 0001
[4293933.840115] cp210x 1-1.2:1.0: cp210x converter detected
[4293933.841776] usb 1-1.2: cp210x converter now attached to ttyUSB0

now....when you are poining it again, I am seeing the possible problem. Why is it USB1 instead of USB0?
I will ask him for a dmesg.
Thank you so much, steve

It can change, and I've had this issue myself, see https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=13704

I haven't tried the solution mentioned by laulau in that thread yet, it's been behaving itself since I posted about it.

Hi Steve, his dmesg output is reporting this as his device

[ 6.935049] usb 1-1.3: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUS

so I assume, he needs to configure this in his Setitngs:

/dev/ttyUS Whatever this is

and hopefully, this device will not change as you mentioned in your last post....but based on the fact, that this device does not have numbers at the end, I asusme, it will not change

That looks like it's truncated to me. "ls -al /dev/ttyUS*" should show what the actual devices are.

Yes, I fear that and I already asked him for the ls command, but unfortunately he did not answered yet, but came up with the next question......
