Lightning Strikes...WS1080 Goes on Strike

I just had lighting hit a tree about 20 feet from my house and it seems to have knocked out my transmitter. I tried new batteries but all that happens is the red light blinks and then nothing. Have rebooted console, hooked up to USB, off USB - all the tricks. This unit has worked flawlessly for 4 years. Was $125 off eBay.

Do I spend the $25 to get a new transmitter or what's the next step up in the Weather Wise/Ambient Weather line that will still work with Cumulus?

Thanks!
Scott

You do know that once you change the batteries in the transmitter you have to reset the display as well.
The batteries have to be in the transmitter before putting batteries in the display otherwise it will not find it.
the quick way is to remove 1 battery from the display for several seconds making sure the display is blank before putting the battery back in if it still does not find it than it is time for another transmitter. If you are lucky that is the only thing damaged.
I would check out the other components as well.
I use the Ws2080 and it works great with cumulus 8-)

Yep, I tried everything. Ordered a new transmitter from Ambient today. However...the convergence of Father's Day and my birthday may help get a Davis Vantage Vue etc. on the way. Showed them to the boss [ahem] last night.

Luck is right. Lightning went across the driveway and almost into the house. And..I have a 2 meter and scanner antenna on my roof. It picked the tree.

Mega millions is at 233M, Powerball is at 171M. I'm buying some tickets!

Didn't win the lottery but did get a new transmitter module from Ambient Weather in Arizona. $19.95 + $9.95 shipping. Back online.

Most interesting after having the new transmitter is that I have essentially zero spikes on outdoor temp and pressure. Huge spikes before.
