two for one!

I thought I would try something today.....
I have two Fine Offset style Weather stations -- long story! Anyway, one is in an unopened box in the cupboard and one is in use. Today I thought I would dig out the receiver on the unused one and turn it on. Too my astonishment it works -- both now receive the same data from the transmitter
In theory one can run Cumulus V1 and one V2

Hello,
I been lurking here for some time in "read only" (guest) mode. But felt compelled to comment in this thread?
The "displays" are only receivers. They do not transmit. I.E there is no synch process between the display/console and the outdoor sender unit.
That means you can have as many displays as you like? The only restriction is of course that they use the same band (frequency). Fine Offset units are either 433 Mhz or 868 Mhz models in Euro land. In the UK 868 Mhz is the norm.
When the sender unit (the bit outside) transmits, it can be received by all receivers (displays) in range? So if your neighbours quite like the looks of your station and buy one themselves, your in trouble if it's the same model. (Well at least until they realise they can leach off yours).
For anyone wishing to adding more "displays", you can buy them separately for £35 quid from Waters and Stanton (see here
http://www.wsplc.com/acatalog/Weather_S ... ories.html).
The W&S ones will be 868Mhz (all they do). If your not sure what model you already have, you can check what freq it is by looking on the back of your display unit. Its usually printed on the outside of the battery cover

Indeed Nidge. One can have many receivers getting their weather data from only one transmitter...
Here, at my home, I have one Vantage Pro2 Plus (external/outside) wireless weather station and 2 (internal/inside) receivers, one of them being a wireless Weather Envoy and the other being a wireless Vantage Pro2 Console (soon a third receiver will be added to the lot).
David, indeed, you could use each of the receivers to supply their data to two different copies of Cumulus. But then, you will also need two different inputs (one input for each receiver) or two different computers...

Good point - with USB devices like the Fine Offset, It may well have to be separate computers, as both devices would identify themselves in the same way, and I don't know how the USB enumerating code works when you have two devices on the bus with the same VID and PID. It may be that it all works out nicely, and the first program gets one device and the second program gets the other.

I have it working on two separate computers -- could not see how it would work on one
