Is it possible to use sftp

Post by KD7YZ »

When I use FileZilla, I can, and do, use sftp to upload files to folders on my website.

Is there a way to use sftp from within Cumulus?

Not directly, but you can do it as described in the wiki - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/SFTP

]Ok, that's a help.
I now have just the realtime.txt going up at about every 30 seconds, via sftp and winscp.
Quite smoothly too. http://denstarfarm.us/Cumulus/gauges.htm will show the wind guages moving every 30 seconds. Eventually I'll take some of the bandwidth down once I see that it's all working via sftyp.

So I have the batch file and such. see the screenshot.
[attachment=0]sftp_realtime.JPG[/attachment

now then, regarding these 9 files from web folder:
index.htm
today.htm
yesterday.htm
record.htm
trends.htm
gauges.htm
thismonth.htm
thisyear.htm
monthlyrecord.htm

((( and what are those with the "T"?))) in that folder?

then these into the images folder:
compass.png
hum.png
humsm.png
intemp.png
intempsm.png
moon.bmp
press.png
presssm.png
rain.png
rainsm.png
raind.png
raindsm.png
raint.png
raintsm.png
temp.png
tempsm.png
tempm.png
tempmsm.png
wind.png
windd.png
windsm.png
windgauge.png
windrose.png
winddsm.png

I have two text boxes left that you look in for external programs ...
How to I get the two sets of files up? Or maybe better asked, which text boxes do you look at?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Those boxes are described in the help for the internet settings screen. You need to supply the name of a new batch file in the 'program' box. Your batch file will contain commands for uploading all of the files that you have listed, so you will have a number of 'put' lines, one for each file (or it may be possible to use wildcards, I don't know). The 'T' files are the 'templates' which Cumulus processes to create the actual web pages and they stay on your PC; the processing is described in the wiki, here - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Customised_templates

Edit: A quick search turned up this thread - https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=8098 - see the last post in the thread where a user has supplied the required details.

OK .. I "might" have figured this out:

sft-web-cmds.txt contains :
------------------------
option batch abort
option confirm off
open username:password@domain
put "location_of->Cumulus\index.htm" /ur_ftp_place-root/Cumulus/web/index.htm

and so on for the files that go into the Cumulus folder on the remote site

then the images into Cumulus/images/ folder on the remote site:

put "C:\Cumulus\images\compass.png"/ur_ftp_place-root/Cumulus/web/compass.png
and so on for the 22 image png's .

rewrite this if you wish, for clarity.

See if it is working now.

good find!
his example is a much more detailed look at it!

so I guess my next task is to do the actual sync.

Still though, it seems mine is uploading the basics and using sftp anyway.
