New install - use old history or start fresh?

Post by snapper »

Hi

Due to some long running systems issues, I need to reinstall cumulus from backup.
I only have data up until about mid December, with a copy of data since then in weewx.

What is the best approach here?

1. Install cumulus afresh with new datafiles. once running, import the pre December data from the old datafiles and then work out how to import the weewx data.

2. Install cumulus, copy the pre December datafiles into the new install and only then start cumulus. Once running, import the weewx data to fill the missing jan-apr data.

I would like to preserve my history/yearly totals as much as possible but appreciate his may be problematic...

I would like to get my data in good condition before installing MX.

Thanks

As you have such a large gap since your previous Cumulus data, I think I would be inclined to start afresh, and then merge the old data in afterwards.
