Cumulus not reading VP2 converted logs

Hello,

I just started using Cumulus, nice package, but I'm having trouble with the Weatherlink Log Converter v 1.5
I'm using Cumulus v 1.9.4, build 1099.

I have a Davis VP2 IP and I connected it to Cumulus using the standard IP address configuration (not the serial) and it seems to work fine with no disconnects over past couple days.

The converted log file is placed into the Cumulus/data directory.

Cumulus can view the converted log data via: View-Data Log- Load (see jpg).

When I go to View-High Lows-Monthly - select Feb it does not show.

Log files attached.

Thanks

Pat

The highs and lows are not taken directly from the monthly log file. To 'bootstrap' the other data you first need entries in dayfile.txt. I think the WL converter creates entries for dayfile.txt, you need to merge them into the dayfile.txt in Cumulus. You can also use 'create missing' in the dayfile.txt editor in Cumulus to generate the entries from the monthly log files. When you have the entries in dayfile.txt you can then use the other editors in Cumulus to generate the various high/low data.

Thanks, I think I'm halfway there. I went into the Dayfile editor pressed Create Missing and it added the two converted months for Jan and Feb 2015 into the dayfile.txt. (attached)

Most Views Cumulus Software for this month, this year, this period... all worked and include the data from the Jan, Feb converted files.

However, none of the View-High and Lows worked in Cumulus nor was the added data for the new dayfile.txt put into thismonth.htm, thisyear.htm, monthly record.htm. Am I missing a step that would make the data appear in dayfile.txt but not show in the htm's.

I did go into Edit Monthly All time Reocrds - Fetched Log Data - pressed copy on every row and clicked Ok and it did not seem to get the data into the htm files.

You only need to click the copy button in the header, rather than on each row, as described in the help. You need to do the operation for each month.

Did it show reasonable values after you had fetched the data and clicked 'copy'? Is it showing the figures in Cumulus itself? Have you tried 'fetch dayfile data' instead? Have you tried the simpler case of generating the all-time data (using the all-time records editor) rather than the monthly all-time data?

Ok I got it. Thanks for the help.

A bit tricky to understand is that you copy monthly values from Log files but then you still need to go back to the Edit Dayfile and fill in missing values for it all to work.

Thanks for being responsive on a free software package. Donation just sent via paypal (email starts with "pat").

Now on to figuring out the steel gauges, the gauges show but without data from realtime text, says it cant find realtime file (that is for another forum and a new topic).
