what caused the problem then do you think? The same problem occurred on my desktop as well, so is it the base station that had a temporary glitch?

A duff time update from MSF or DCF or wherever it gets the time signal from, I would think. I have an MSF clock that occasionally gets set to a stupid time and/or date.
