RCC / DCF wrong time each morning....logging/catchup?

I see my station WH-3080 changes time during the night and it never seems to get it right. Each morning it has been set back to 2010-01-01 or something like that and the time is anything between 00:00 and 23:59. Will this be a problem fir the logging feature of cumulus?
I guess cumulus realtime is not affected, but what about during catchup if computer has been down? Will it import data to the wrong timestamp?

No, from what I remember Cumulus does not use the time on FO stations. It just reads back in the logger assuming each record has been created at the logger interval.

if thats the case, that is just wonderfull!

Seems the RCC / DCF cannot be turned off.

Yes, the FO logger entries don't have a timestamp in them, so as Mark says, Cumulus reads back from the current time to calculate them, using the interval in each entry. As it has to do that anyway, it makes more sense to use the current PC clock as the starting point.

Have you checked/replaced the batteries in the Console? It sounds rather as if it's being powered only by the USB cable and the PC is turned off overnight? But in that case I'd expect it to stop logging too.

The RCC clock receiver is actually in the external "transmitter" which only re-transmits the time just after each hour (if it successfully receives a RCC signal). The RCC antenna is directional, so the external transmitter may need to be rotated to receive a good RCC signal (i.e. you may need to ignore the FO recommendation to face the solar panel to the south). Or you could "turn off" the RCC by facing the transmitter in the "wrong" (antenna null) direction. ;)

But as Steve says, the RCC time is only relevant to the LCD display on the Console.

Cheers, Alan.

Actually the console was running on USB power without batteries, although the PC is a server which is always on. But it could be some kind of USB power save or something so I got the tip from FO to have batteries in it even though its running on USB. That has at lesst worked during this night. So it could be solved by that possibly, we'll se in the long run.
