Meteorological winter ended yesterday for the Northern Hemisphere. How was yours?

Fairly nondescript in the UK. No severe gales; no really bad snow and just moderate amounts of rain for the bulk of the country. Here's a few stats for this station:-

The mean temp was 5.0°C compared to the 30 year average of 4.6°C. Not as warm as last winter but warmer than 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2012/13.
Rainfall was 10.7" compared to 9.65" last winter.
Highest temp was 14.3°C on 9 January.
Lowest temp was -3.7°C on 3 February.
Highest gust was 53mph on 28 January.
Wettest day was 0.55" on 2 February.

Winter is still hanging on here as well... and usually last's well into late march.
Here's my stats so far, most of the NE US had a brutal Feburary with a mix of bitter cold and snow.

I don't know what the US Met Office equivalent determines to be the start and end of meteorological winter but it's 1 Dec - 28/29 Feb in the UK. This is different to astronomical winter of course. But as we're keeping weather records it makes sense to use the former.

Those are truly awful temperatures especially when you consider how much further south you are than the UK.

Pardon my French but bloody 'ell! Do you turn off the freezer when it's that cold and just store the food in the garden shed?

The upside of this cold weather is that I haven't seen any mosquitoes or black flies recently

Looks like you escaped bad storms with a high gust of only 35mph. Everything else looks pretty normal for the Highlands.

Plus, we had 85 days during the period Dec. 1st to Feb. 28 with a low below 32°F(0°C) and 65 consecutive days with low below 32°F. If that isn't cold enough, we had 59 days during the period that never got above freezing.

My Noah Reports shows that since we began records four years ago this was the coldest winter we've had.

Insult to injury, we are under a winter storm warning for ice/sleet/freezing rain/snow 'till 7am on Wednesday. Time to break the seal on the bottle of rum.

Brad

Edit - On a lighter note, we've only had 58" of snow this season! ;)
