Resetting WeatherLinkIP address
Currently my WLIP unit is using a IP of 192.168.0.102. I can't get it to work with the new router I purchased which says it needs to be in the 192.168.1.xxx network. How can I get that IP address to switch from 192.168.0.102 to 192.168.1.???. I have beat my head against the wall long enough. Time to ask for "HELP!"

Re: Resetting WeatherLinkIP address
I can think of two options.
1. remove batteries and power from you unit for a few minutes.
When power is restored, the unit will get a new address from your router (provided it has DHCP turned on).
2. Most routers can be configured for any local address pool so you could change the address to the same range as your old router.

Re: Resetting WeatherLinkIP address
If the DHCP refresh suggested by tassyjim does not work it suggests the IP address may 'fixed' - perhaps with a setting from weatherlink?
In that case you will need to configure something on the same address range so you can get to it to re-set the address.
Can you temporarily put back your old router and use weatherlink to change the address?
If not then you will need to connect a PC in that the old address range and use that. This will mean changing the IP address in the PC temporarily to make the connection.
Use the help section in weatherlink and search for 'Local device ID'.

Re: Resetting WeatherLinkIP address
Never heard of a router that will not let you change its configuration, so switch the router address to 192.168.0.254 and then once the change has taken place (it will probably reboot), switch the DHCP range (the range of IP addresses the router issues) to 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.253 and it should then function as per your previous network.
If it asks the network mask should be 255.255.255.0.

Re: Resetting WeatherLinkIP address
BT Home Hub! It will let you change the configuration, but only to certain IP ranges. You can't use any of the 10.x.x.x range, and you are limited to a single 192.168.x range. Oddly you can use any of the 172.16.x.x ranges.water01 wrote:Never heard of a router that will not let you change its configuration

Don't know what Home Hub you are running but the Shooting Ground that I provide a web site for locally has a BT Home hub on a Business contract and I was able to change the IP address to 10.10.1.1 with absolutely no problem in the advanced settings.

Re: Resetting WeatherLinkIP address
It was v4 - but I don't have it any more. Awful piece of kit - forever restarting. I asked BT about using 10.x and they said they use that range for their BTFON and BTOpenzone clients (which use a small portion of your bandwidth, the trade-off being that you as a BT customer can use these services wherever they are available, provided that you enable the same on your home hub).water01 wrote:Don't know what Home Hub you are running

Wow, didn't expect this many replies, especially in such a short time.water01 wrote:Never heard of a router that will not let you change its configuration, so switch the router address to 192.168.0.254 and then once the change has taken place (it will probably reboot), switch the DHCP range (the range of IP addresses the router issues) to 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.253 and it should then function as per your previous network.

I won't have time today to try these great ideas as I will be away from the computer most of the day. Tomorrow will be a better time to try out these suggestions.
