Can anyone help?
I have set up my own server at home, is it possible to use Cumulus to upload to it. If so what would be the internet connection config?

If it's a separate machine, the easiest way is to run an ftp server on it and set Cumulus up exactly as you would for any web server, just use the IP address for the 'host name' in the settings.
If you share the server drive, you can get Cumulus to copy the files across your network instead of using ftp (as described in the FAQ) but that requires more setting up in Cumulus.
