Cumulus - Webpage Generation produces 0k size files

Post by therobins »

Hi All

Our cumulus system has been running successfully for the last month. I have been sucessfully using the weather blues template which has proved to be very reliable once I have changed it to suite our site.

However, overnight for some reason our page has disappeared. I have checked the FTP site and all of the HTML files are 0k in size, This also includes all of the graph files being 0k in size. In the Cumulus directory the template T files are still intact, and the generated files are showing the correct data and being processed correctly. I have checked FTP log which was huge and nothing stood out. I have cleared these logs and started again (145mb of logs is huge)

The logs are showing an FTP 425 error example here below.

Code: Select all

08:51:28:688 ! HighLevelAsync 0
08:51:28:688 FTP Command: STOR thisyear.htm
08:51:28:689 04C47750 TriggerDataSent 1216
08:51:28:707 FTP Response: 425 Unable to build data connection: Connection refused
08:51:28:707 >|425 Unable to build data connection: Connection refused|

08:51:28:707 04C47F10 TCustomWSocket.Shutdown 1 1252
08:51:28:707 FTPRequestDone ftpPutAsync Errcode = 425
08:51:29:676 Uploading C:\Cumulus\web\monthlyrecord.htm to monthlyrecord.htm
08:51:29:676 ! HighLevelAsync 0
08:51:29:676 FTP Command: PORT 10,28,5,250,202,223
08:51:29:676 04C47750 TriggerDataSent 1216
08:51:29:689 FTP Response: 200 PORT command successful
08:51:29:689 >|200 PORT command successful|

08:51:29:689 ! HighLevelAsync 0
08:51:29:689 FTP Command: STOR monthlyrecord.htm
08:51:29:689 04C47750 TriggerDataSent 1216
08:51:29:707 FTP Response: 425 Unable to build data connection: Connection refused
08:51:29:707 >|425 Unable to build data connection: Connection refused|

08:51:29:707 04C47F10 TCustomWSocket.Shutdown 1 1240
08:51:29:707 FTPRequestDone ftpPutAsync Errcode = 425
08:51:30:676 Uploading standard images
08:51:30:687 Changing directory to images
08:51:30:687 FTP Command: CWD images
08:51:30:687 04C47750 TriggerDataSent 1216
08:51:30:700 FTP Response: 250 CWD command successful
08:51:30:700 >|250 CWD command successful|
When uploading the GUI reports an FTP error on our infos processed page but then continues as normal.

In order to rectify I have tried moving data to another website/folder which gives the same issues.
In our current site I have deleted all uploaded files in order to get Cumulus to re-upload newer files.

Our current website is http://www.bredon.worcs.sch.uk/weather/
Our WU site is here, showing that data is still flowing from Cumulus to the web http://www.wunderground.com/q/locid:UKEN4990

It is looking more likely to be an ftp issue, however I can manually upload files to that directory using an FTP client and it works fine, here is shown a screen shot of our upload process http://www.bredon.worcs.sch.uk/weather/1.PNG

I wonder if anyone has any tips or pointers to allow me to get closer to the cause. I will do some research into FTP 425 errors but from tests so far I can only assume its related to the software and not our FTP server.

I have also just found out we had a power outage last night which has been confirmed but the weather underground gap in data and checking our UPS backups can confirm a 2 hour outage. The machine that runs Cumulus is luckily a Laptop which stayed on battery as did the Davis panel.

Thanks
Dan

Cumulus is simply reporting the error coming from the server:

08:51:28:707 FTP Response: 425 Unable to build data connection: Connection refused

You're using active ftp mode. Googling for that error code suggests that changing to passive mode may fix the problem. If it doesn't, you need to look at the routers/firewalls in your system to see why the data connection cannot be established. Presumably something has changed.

Makes me laugh, Being an IT Manager I always look at the most difficult and long winded answer. Some how Passive FTP became enabled over night, No idea how. However the site is now up and running.

Hopefully I can now get some more images and text updated and then let it go public.

Thanks for that,

Dan
