My Fine Offset died, bought a Davis Vantage Vue UK version.
Now received expansion module but it a USB version
Cumulus does not have this option only serial or TCP/IP
option. How do get the data from the Davis into Cumulus?

You have to install drivers to create a virtual serial port. See the FAQ - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#How_do ... Cumulus.3F

I ran an Oregon Scientific station for a number of years from 2007, but the equipment died. I am thinking of purchasing the following and using Cumulus to gather the data, upload to my own web site CWOP etc. Would this purchase be compatible with what I want to do? I am trying to keep costs down.

6250 Davis Vantage Vue Weather Station
6510 USB Davis Weatherlink Computer Interface

I understand that one needs to configure the USB to work as a serial port.

Thanks Steve, Will Try that.

Radioham same Davis products that I bought
Had to buy the Davis Vue in UK if you have
a problem with it you will not get support
from main importer if bought from US.
Mine says Model 6250UK.
The data logger & software came from US as much cheaper
by £100.00

Thanks for the tips Steve and freedom2.

I am in Canada where the radio frequencies are same as US. I think the UK and Europe use different frequencies hence the ***UK version. I guess you should not use the US system in Europe.

If I buy the system, I would order it within the US and go across the border to pick it up. I was quoted by an on-line store in US$ about $257 and $108 for the two items plus about $32 shipping by UPS ground from the east coast for a total of $397 which is about 264 UK pounds, I believe. How does this compare?

I started my previous station in September, 2006 and ran it almost continuously until about August, 2014, but shut it down after some parts had failed and it was not worth the effort to try to fix them. The damp weather seemed to be part of the problem. I used an old laptop as a dedicated weather station computer.

I am still thinking about going back on line with a weather station. I think I have decided on the Davis Vantage View, but there is an Weatherlink IP module as well as the Weatherlink USB. I understand the IP system will upload data to an Internet site, CWOP etc.

My question is can the Cumulus software access the data when the Weatherlink IP is used, or must I use the USB interface (with serial conversion)? I would like to use Cumulus.

Yes Cumulus works with the Davis WeatherlinkIP
Cumulus has a setting to disconnect for a configurable period once a minute to allow uploads to weatherlink.com to take place.
