After almost 2 years of thinking about it...

Post by TNETWeather »

For close to 2 years I have been thinking of merging the two TNET weather sites into one and finally this past weekend did most of the work.

Used to be two sites, one based on WD and one based on Cumulus (newer one). Now there is just one and it is taking feeds from both feed sources into the same site.

The newer format is what I used and there is not a lot of changes to see as it is mostly internal. But a ton of links to the old are now redirected to the new and http://www.tnetweather.com is the one and only site again.

I also tonight moved the site over to HTTPS. Installed a new SSL Cert for the domain and converted it and the links to use https instead of just http.

Also started using a new HTML5 slide show script that I cobbled together from a great collection of code I found for using on full sized websites called A better simple slideshow (http://themarklee.com/2014/10/05/better ... slideshow/).

The old way was using a Flash script system which was starting to get less supported by various browsers.

The site has been very stable and hands off for some time as I had little time to work on it. I need to replace the primary workstation that does the weather collection soon before it dies but no real big plans beyond that.

Online to update my profile links etc..
