Fine Offset Station Not found.

Post by Bobbien333 »

Capture.JPG
It has worked for years and now there is a problem. It is stating Fine OffsetStation Not Found. check connections and restart Cumulus.
I have even replaced the batteries in the console and the outside unit. I have a WS 2080. I even went out and bought a new usb cable to go from the console to the computer. I thought maybe it was the usb from the computer, but it recognizes everything else.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Cumulus several times. This started yesterday when I downloaded the new version. So, when it stopped working, I uninstalled and reinstalled the older version deleting the folder with the files that came with the new version. Starting all over, and still having the "error" blinking stating the "Fine Offset Station cannot be found." the console is reading from the outside system fine. I've even restarted the pc."Fine Offset WH1080, etc." checked like always.

Please help and thank you for your time.

check with device manager that the base station is showing when you connect it. it shows as an human interface device. you might have to connect and disconnect a few times and count how many show each time. if its an older model you should hear the relay click when you connect it this is only proving the +5v from the usb port is getting to the base station. if it does not show in device manager its normally a good guess duff cable.

Where do you see it shows as an human interface device? I am not doubting you. I am a learner fanatic lol.
In device manager, there are a lot of hubs.

you need to look under hid not usb this covers lots of things so with the station disconnected count how many there is and then connect the station and recount them if you get the same figure its not been seen if it increases by 1 good chance it is. if it is not seen try another port if you have one if not try changing the cable back to the one you were using

you need to look under human interface devices and there should show usb input device I have not found a way to id which is which count how many there is and connect the base station and recount to see if they increase by 1 if not the port you are using is not recognizing the base station but could be working fine with other devices. had this problem myself on a laptop. try another usb port if still nothing it could be using the same usb hub and that could be the fault.it was for me and changed the hub and everything worked fine.

Yea, I don't know what device is having a problem. I delete it and it comes right back. I don't have anything else connected to this laptop, but the weather console by usb. I have 4 usb's on this computer too. When I use the original cord, nothing is recognized. That must be dead. This new one is recognized. This is so weird.2 days of this and I'm not going to give up. It worked before, it needs to work again.
I know which one comes on and that is the USB Mass Storage one. I disconnect and it goes away. That is how it comes up. I can't delete all the USB's either and restart the computer for them to be found again. I used to be able to do that and I delete one at a time, but before I can get through them all (and those are just the Root Hubs) they start coming back again. The disease of the hubs lol.

Still won't work and it's because the usb to usb cable I bought, I found out has built in software for picture sharing. I have to find another plan ole usb to usb cord. This old one is a dud. That is why it was saying mass storage. Ugh! lol I sure do appreciate your time and help. I will order a cord.

Thanks a milliion!!

Hi,

Note that FO use/supply a somewhat non-standard type of USB cable. You need one with "USB Type A male" Plugs at both ends. We discussed purchasing a replacement cable (from about post #10) in this rather long recent thread. But ultimately the cable may have been a "red herring" in that case, and the OP was in Australia.

Cheers, Alan.
